Total Knee Arthroplasty (Knee Replacement)

– 69-year-old man with debilitating knee pain which prevents him from walking for exercise. He’s failed to improve after cortisone shots and arthroscopy. X-rays show severe arthritis. Total knee replacement was recommended.

– Pre-op x-ray shows “bone-on-bone” degeneration and bone spur formation.

– Post-operative x-ray after knee replacement. Comment: Knee replacement usually provides good to excellent relief from severe arthritic pain.

– This patient was able to resume exercising after his recovery and remains free of pain.
