Pediatric Hip Dysplasia with Dislocation

Pre-operative

Developmental dysplasia of the hip is a condition when a child is born with–or develops–a shallow, or dysplastic, hip socket. This can allow the hip to dislocate (come out of the socket), which, if left untreated, will lead to early arthritis. This patient was diagnosed at the age of 3 months; her initial x-ray shows her left hip is dislocated superiorly

Post-operative

She was treated with a tendon release to allow her hip to be reduced (put back in the socket) without undue pressure and then casting for two months. At 3 years old, her x-ray shows a normal hip socket, and she has no symptoms or limitations
