Case Study - Total Knee Arthroplasty (Knee Replacement)

Pre-Operative

Pre-Operative

- 69-year-old man with debilitating knee pain which prevents him from walking for exercise. He's failed to improve after cortisone shots and arthroscopy. X-rays show severe arthritis. Total knee replacement was recommended.

- Pre-op x-ray shows "bone-on-bone" degeneration and bone spur formation.

Post-operative

Post-operative

- Post-operative x-ray after knee replacement. Comment: Knee replacement usually provides good to excellent relief from severe arthritic pain.

- This patient was able to resume exercising after his recovery and remains free of pain.
