Samuel Scott, M.D.

Dr. Scott specializes in disorders of the hand and wrist. He treats all age groups and has a special interest in joint replacement surgery in the hand. Dr. Scott treats emergency referrals and is on the panel of hand surgeons at both Maine Medical Center and Mercy Hospital. He is Chief of Surgery at Mercy Hospital, is vice president-elect of the New England Hand Society, is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Scott was born in New York City and raised in Connecticut. He received his undergraduate degree from Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts and his MD from Dartmouth Medical School. He served a general internship and resident year at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital followed by an orthopaedic residency at Mary Hitchcock Hospital. He then went on to serve as a hand fellow at the St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital under the direction of Dr. William Littler.

Dr. Scott has been in private practice in Portland since 1988 and with Maineortho since 2011. He lives with his wife in Cumberland and enjoys sailing and boating along the Maine coast. He is a trustee of the Hurricane Island Foundation and a former trustee of the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School.
