R. Reed Gramse , M.D.
Dr. Gramse specializes in minimally invasive joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee as well as shoulder replacement surgery, including reverse shoulder arthroplasty. He also concentrates on foot and ankle surgery and has extensive experience in fracture care and general orthopaedics, including arthroscopy.
Dr. Gramse was raised in western Massachusetts and received his medical training in Hartford, Connecticut as an intern. He did his residency at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and then Yale University. He is certified in both Orthopaedics and Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. Gramse also served for 8 years as the Chief of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Maine Medical Center. He joined Maineortho in 1984.
Dr. Gramse lives in Cape Elizabeth with his wife, Patti; they have 3 grown children. Dr. Gramse coached youth hockey for many years and now, in his spare time, enjoys fishing, lobstering, skiing, hockey, and motorcycle touring trips around the country.
