Anton M. Kurtz, MD

Dr. Kurtz is a board-eligible orthopaedic surgeon specializing in pediatric orthopaedics as well as limb and joint abnormalities for patients of all ages. He completed a fellowship in limb lengthening and complex reconstruction at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, as well as a second fellowship in pediatric orthopaedic surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases, also in New York.

Dr. Kurtz has presented research at several professional orthopaedic meetings including the the AAOS Annual Meeting and the ILLRS Congress. He has published on the topic of limb salvage following failed reconstructive procedures in Techniques in Orthopaedics.

Dr. Kurtz was born in New York City and graduated from Haverford College in Pennsylvania before attending UVM Medical School in Burlington, VT. Dr. Kurtz completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY, during which time he won the Resident Teaching Award. Dr. Kurtz and his wife, Judith, are delighted to be settled in South Portland with their two young children. They enjoy exploring the coast and the woods, hiking, skiing, camping and fishing.
